I am happy that Adam @ RoofBeamReader has brought back his TBR challenge. The challenge is to make a list of 14 books (12 on the main list and 2 alternates) from which you commit yourself to reading at least 12 this year. Specifying it further, Adam writes, “Each of these 12 books must have been on your bookshelf or “To Be Read” list for AT LEAST one full year. This means the book cannot have a publication date of 1/1/2021 or later (any book published in the year 2020 or earlier qualifies, as long as it has been on your TBR pile). Caveat: Two (2) alternates are allowed, just in case one or two of the books ends up in the “did not finish (DNF)” pile.” More details can be found over here.
Here is my list of books. I have chosen physical books for this challenge, more than half of them in Hindi, and most of them related to the history of India:
- The Life and Ideas of Shaheed Bhagat Singh (ed) Dr. Vir Singh
- Bhagat Singh and Comrades by Malwinder Jit Singh Waraich
- Sangharsh ke Path Par by Tansukh Ram Gupt
- Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi ki Jail Diary (ed) Suresh Salil
- Rang Basanti by Pratap Sehgal
- Devtaswaroop Bhai Parmanand by Harivansh
- Mera Sandesh by Bhai Parmanand
- Rail ka Ticket by Bhadant Anand Kauslyayan
- Road to Freedom: Revealing Sidelights by Comrade Ram Chandra
- Viplavi Battukeshwar Dutt by Bhairab Lal Das
- The Roll of Honour by Kali Charan Ghosh
- Phansi Lahore Ki (ed) Gurdev Singh Sidhu
The two alternates are:
- The Role of the Ghadar Party in the National Movement by G.S. Deol
- Mere Saat Janam by Hansraj Rehbar

There are prizes and giveaways too. If you are interested, you can sign-up here but plz remember to do it by 31st January 2022.
I like the idea of a challenge that encourages readers to dip into their TBRs. I’ve found I have a lot of books I’m eager to read on my TBR, but just don’t get to them for whatever reason. Concentrating on them makes a lot of sense, Neeru, and your choices look really interesting.

Thank you so much, Margot. I am excited about the books but even more than that I want to finish reading them since some of them have been there for more than two decades!😛

Sadly, I don’t know anyone on this list, which shows the limits of my knowledge!
Here is my list, a mixed bag: https://wordsandpeace.com/2022/01/03/2022-tbr-pile-reading-challenge/
